I thought I was listening to Barack Obama with his empowering we must change speech when Eddie started talking about complacency 😂

You'll always have managers who can push beyond that 3 year limit, especially when they have objectives that have yet to be hit.

In terms of your specific example of Diego Simeone at At.Madrid, they are often the hunters, trying to find a way to hurt the the big boys of Real and Barca and so that motivation isn't hard to find, especially for a guy like Simeone who thrives in a scrap.

I think the days of an Alex Ferguson style dominance where a manager stays at a club and dominates a league for the best part of 10 to 20 years are going to be very rare. A large part of that dominance was based upon having credible challengers who pushed him to find new limits along the way in both Arsenal, Chelsea and even Kevin Keegans Newcastle. 13 titles in 20 years at against that level opposition was incredible.

It's rare these days that we have had those tests, and so there is a much greater risk of stagnation or complacency. That's not to say Rodgers couldn't stay for longer and continue to have success. It's just that there has to be an realism applied to things.
