Is The Celtic End feasible…or even desirable
Andrew H considers the pros and cons of the Celtic End debate
A swirl over rights, entitlements and betterment - as judged indisputable - seems to have been set in motion by the North Curve’s statement last week on the creation of what has acquired the label ‘The Celtic End’.
And before getting into that, please indulge me over this moot point. In their statement, they mention “an end”. It could only be at one end and that is the West side of the stadium. I am of an age that makes it jarring to talk of a potential ‘Celtic End’ at the, eh, Rangers end. I actually sit in the rear of the Lisbon Lions stand these days, as it is officially titled, but can never remember that I do. Resulting in me identifying it by its old colloquial name of the Rangers end.
Anyway, this matters not a jot to the membership of the North Curve - around a thousand, with about a tenth of those the real influencers, aka the Green Brigade - who want to move away from the corner of the North Stand to station themselves behind the goal to create The Celtic End. Which they did with aplomb at the Celtic women’s encounter with Chelsea a week ago, injecting that occasion with noise, colour and vibrancy.
