How does Celtic’s latest title-winning campaign measure up to others in recent memory

All title wins are equal. But, of course, some appear more equal than others. Maybe that explains, what I would contend, is a failure to appreciate just what another storming success Celtic’s newly-minted championship capture has been. It feels as if in certain quarters – and not all of these outside the sphere of our Celtic fraternity – there has been a nit-picky approach to rendering judgements. Perhaps that’s what happens when you snare your 13th title in 14 years.
Too much emphasis has been placed on the few hiccups endured by Brendan Rodgers and his squad on their route to the winners’ podium – little allowance given for the fact that the destination has been certain since last September. It hasn’t come close to matching Rodgers annus mirablis that culiminated in the invincible treble season. It has witnessed dodgy derby form, with only one victory from these four fixtures. It hasn’t been earned with football that has delivered the pizazz of Ange Postecoglou’s second league triumph.
