Running the CU has cost a few bob over the past 20 years. With the arrival of Andrew H we decided that we could offer something a wee bit different with enough added value to cover all the costs of running and we hope we’ve achieved that. We are very grateful to all who have kindly supported the site by taking out a subscription over these past few months.
Since the season kicked off we have released 80 podcasts for your listening delight which have been a mixture of Tales from the Celtic Wiki, Hail Hail History tales, Andrew H in convresation with and general matchday chat. We have also had some great written pieces from Eddie, Andrew, Saint, Ross Hall and me. If you’ve not read them all…what have you been doing?! Eddie’s Celtic Da weekly may remind older readers of the Glen Tim Tim Rumour Mill and is your go-to place for weekly made up gossip.
Andrew H’s written pieces tend to be around the stats of the moment and Ross has written extensively about tactics and the youth system. For Saint and Matthew it’s been history pieces and me…BUILD A NEW MAIN STAND!
Within all of the above we have been listening and learning. Two main pieces of feedback that we hope you’ve noticed - firstly can you have more matchday chat. More chat like we used to do way back when we laughed at Rangers almost every week as they stuffed the back of their Ford Cortina with the tax files no-one was supposed to know about and Sandy went back to playing golf. We hope you’ve noticed with Andrew H parked up awaiting the tyre fix, laughing and crying pre & post the Rangers game that we’re producing a few more of these pods.
The other feedback was that we were producing too much content. We took this second point on a few months ago and have tried to streamline the content so that it wasn’t every day AND that you had certainty as to when you got it.
So what’s all this ramble trying to say? For paid subscribers, with the end of the Second 9iar Chronicles, we will be moving Andrew H’s “In Conversation…” podcasts to a Sunday morning and coming up on these pods will be Brian O’Neil (looking like Pierce Brosnan), Mark McNally, Peter Latchford, Peter Marshall and Sanjeev Kholi (among others). If you’re new to the paid subscription, or haven’t started it yet, the pods with the likes of Scottish Heavyweight Nick Campbell, Ken McCluskey of the Bluebells, Susie McCabe, Ryan Christie, Yogi Hughes and many others are available on the site.
For those who like “specials” like 9iar, we will be running the poll and podcasts previously promised on who is our best UCL team.
The History tales will continue free to all on a Wednesday with more to come from Matthew including a Scottish Cup special and details of the Hail Hail History walking tours.
So with “In Conversation..” out on a Sunday, History Tales out on a Wednesday, Celtic Da out on a Friday, we will hang the other stuff around this content so that you know what you’re getting and when you’re getting it. Matchday stuff will depend on the schedule of games (for example, over Christmas and New Year we’ve been playing Thursdays and Sundays) but we will try to get matchday pods out on Mondays or Tuesdays.
