It is not dismissive of their first night exploits to state that Celtic’s Champions League campaign really gets going on Tuesday.
It didn’t require any of us to be Nostradamuses to assess, before a ball was kicked on the opener on home soil against Slovan Bratislava, that it was well within the ken of Brendan Rodgers’ men to win. And win well. As they did with the 5-1 dismantling.
Now, an assignment against last year’s Champions League finalist is a whole different ball of wax. Yet, as we have been moved to, eh, wax lyrical over the attacking verve and dynamism of the team the Irishman has moulded, the feeling has grown that this Celtic side could be capable of really earning their spurs in an arena such as the Westfalenstadion.
