So we are into the grind of the transfer window. A slog of three months where we are linked with all sorts of players and to be honest you don’t know what to believe. “He’s rubbish”, “we’ll never get him”, “just pay the money” , “He was always likely to choose somewhere else”, “we can’t sell him” are just some of the standard phrases that will be used over and over again until the end of August.
Andrew Smith on this Substack makes a passioned and eloquent plea for people to drop the cliché’s and in particular the accusation of complacency against the Celtic board at this time of year. He articulates well that Celtic are driven through fear and not through not caring when it comes to what they do and that folk who get frustrated in the transfer window should take this into account. But I’m afraid, with respect, I’m going to disagree.
