16th of June, 1st of July and the 1st of September: Transfer Window Party
Ross Hall - a first look at the summer transfer window
The 3 dates above are window where all teams are invited to the recruitment party, some people will have a great time, get lots of goodies and leave feeling like they’ve had a great time, others will struggle through the party, spend a lot of time looking at the DJs music list and hope that by the end it’s been worthwhile. Then you have the last lot that will wake up on the 2nd of September and feel brutal, like they got all flustered, drunk way too much booze and passed out, missing out on everything… and now they’ve got messages galore saying what the hell happened to you and how are you going to make up for it?
The benchmark dates for the summer window are:
16th of June the transfer window opens for us; weirdly this year the leagues who have competitors in the World Club Cup are getting a wee bonus window from the 1st of June to the 10th of June.
1st of July is when most contracts that are expiring will be completed by; so, for us Greg Taylor and a few of the younger players will come off the books
1st of September is the day where someone realises it’s getting cold and tells everyone they are shutting the window at bedtime.
Now that’s not to say you can’t get deals done now or at any other time because you can, but those are the dates where you can officially be registered this summer.
So, why am I on this. Well as you may have heard me mention previously on the podcasts, we have a chat function in the Substack (feel free to join in, it’s a nice little space that I check daily) and as part of that chat we have talked about what people think we need to do on the recruitment front this summer. What our subscribers would like to see us do in with this opportunity to recruit. It’ll come as no shock that most people want to see us do more than we done in the winter, and do it faster than we done it last summer. I’m in agreement with both of those sentiments.
